In a major breakthrough for commuters in Gurugram, the Central Peripheral Road (CPR) and the loop connecting Dwarka Expressway to National Highway 8 (NH-8) have been officially opened to traffic. This development comes as a significant relief for daily commuters who have long been plagued by severe traffic congestion in the area. The CPR, spanning 14 kilometers with six lanes, now serves as a seamless link between Dwarka Expressway and Sohna Road. Additionally, the loop, consisting of two lanes and stretching over 1.5 kilometers, connects the CPR to NH-8.

Alleviating Traffic Congestion: A Much-Needed Respite

The opening of these roads is expected to alleviate the persistent issue of traffic congestion on both Dwarka Expressway and NH-8. Commuters traveling between Dwarka and Sohna now have the option of utilizing the CPR as an alternative route, while those commuting between Gurgaon and Delhi can conveniently rely on the loop for a smoother journey.
Constructed under the supervision of the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), the CPR and loop have been completed at a cost of Rs 1,200 crore. The CPR project reached its completion in 2021, with the loop following suit in 2022.

Commendation from Commuters: A Welcome Relief

One relieved commuter expressed, “The opening of the CPR and loop is a much-needed respite for all of us. These new routes will undoubtedly ease the traffic congestion we have been enduring on the Dwarka Expressway and NH-8.”

The opening of the CPR and loop is a part of our efforts to improve the infrastructure in the city.” stated an official from NHAI.
