Digging of the Newly Built Dwarka Expressway Link Has Caused Snarling New Sectors
Residents living in sectors along Dwarka Expressway are currently facing a tough time. They were barred from accessing the road which helped them dodge the Kherki Daula toll as the toll plaza operator had dug the road connecting the two highways at many places on Tuesday. The newly laid road metalled on Sunday night had costed the residents 2.5 Lakh.
Dwarka expressway is one of the most sought-after locations for real estate. People have invested a lot of money to purchase property in various sectors along either side of the expressway. However, lack of roads and connectivity is a sore point for them as they have paid crores of rupees for property here. in this situation, the move by the toll plaza operator has snowballed into a huge controversy which is likely to have an effect on assembly elections. Many RWAs along Dwarka expressway news have threatened to boycott the upcoming elections since their complaints have fallen on deaf ears within the government.
Residents find it monetarily taxing to pay a toll every time they cross the toll plaza at Kherki Daula. They demand that either the toll should be removed, or an access road must be provided by the government for the residents of this area.
The Dwarka expressway area falls under MLA Rao Narbir Singh’s Badshapur constituency who also holds the PWD charge in the ministry. Residents are annoyed by the incumbency of the minister and even his party has rejected nominating him again from the assembly constituency citing public sentiments.
According to S. Raghuraman, CEO of MCEPL (Millennium City Expressway Private Limited) the concessionaire of the toll plaza, the metalling of the access road done by residents was illegal and hence this action was taken. Further elaborating on the topic, he said that neither he nor the district administration was approached before construction on the access road was done. The matter is currently pending in Delhi High Court with the next hearing scheduled for 19th December.
The residential projects on dwarka expressway of various societies in sectors lying along Dwarka expressway find the argument unacceptable. They aren’t entirely wrong since they have invested crores as part of external development charges and yet they don’t even have decent roads and connectivity to commute. This is going to be a big issue in the upcoming elections with many residents echoing similar sentiments.
The district administration and police officials are monitoring the situation closely and hope that the situation reaches an amicable solution to end the current impasse between residents and authorities.
