Roadblocks that delay the projects

New progressive projects are the need for society to boost development. However, new projects bring with them impending challenges as well as opportunities. These projects are collective teamwork that requires the involvement of people both in the Government sector as well as common citizens. We often hear from news media about the following projects getting delayed and feel frustrated. Apparently, we are clueless as to the reason behind the delays.

The conception of a project

A lot of research goes into the emancipation of a new project. Evaluating the pros and cons and the value it will bring to society goes through a rigorous process. Once it is finalized, it is tabled to the related government bodies. In the case of Dwarka Expressway, both Haryana and Delhi Government needed to be actively involved.

The projects move through strenuous corridors before it gets the nod. The Dwarka expressway required free land from where it was to pass. The land is not totally inhabited to start work immediately. Before beginning the project, the structure on the related land needed to be relocated.

Delay in relocation

The inhabited people around Dwarka expressway had to be convinced to evacuate the land, which is again a lengthy process. The government has to provide appropriate land to people relocating from there. They may not come to a mutual agreement, resulting in delay. People are not happy to leave their established business/factories and relocate to an unknown area. It is not a small landscape but more than 29km stretch to be cleared.

Axing of trees

The area required is not only surrounded by people but also natural vegetation that needs to be cleared. Not to mention the importance of trees in balancing and keeping the environment clean. Axing them not only deteriorates the eco-balance but also brings wrath from naturalist and environment activist. In commencing of Dwarka expressway about 13,700 trees were needed to be cleared.

The Delhi government had to pledge to plant saplings against axing these trees, so our environment is not deprived of greenery. The clearing of the forest not only disturbs but uproots other living organisms depend on this forest land.

In-between hurdles

Once the project sets in, it is expected to be completed within the allotment time. Disruptions can erupt in between resulting in a delay of projects. Natural or manmade calamities often obstruct the fluency of the project.
